Gladney, Manski Named Athletes of the Month for September

Valpo Athletics announced its Student-Athletes of the Month Thursday morning. Wide receiver Fred Gladney (Milwaukee, Wis./Dominican) and goalkeeper Kristen Manski (Saint Charles, Ill./North) were selected for the month of September.

In three games, Gladney recorded 25 receptions for 437 yards. The junior registered a season-long 73-yard touchdown catch at Saint Joseph's (Ind.) on Sept. 7th. He tallied a touchdown and 183 receiving yards on ten catches versus William Jewell the following week. Gladney played a vital role in Valpo's 49-42 overtime victory over Campbell on Homecoming. He hauled in another ten catches - including two first-quarter TD receptions - to go along with 156 yards.

Manski continued her dominance in net for the Crusaders in the month of September. The senior added four shutouts and four wins to her career stat sheet while recording a 0.83 goals-against average in eight matches. Her 38 stops for the month elevated Manski into 4th place all-time in career saves at Valpo. She also holds the school record for career shutouts with 29 - nine more than the second-place goalkeepers. The 29 shutouts are also second-most in Horizon League history.
