Crusaders Strong As NCAA Releases GSR Data

The Valparaiso University athletics department had five teams post perfect graduation success rate (GSR) scores as the NCAA distributed its annual release of GSR data this week.

Valpo’s bowling, women’s cross country/track and field, softball, women’s tennis and volleyball programs all posted perfect GSR scores in the latest NCAA release. In addition, 12 of the Crusaders’ 15 programs recorded GSR scores above the national average in their respective sports.

Each year, the NCAA publicly announces the Graduation Success Rate of all Division I institutions. The current GSR figures measure the graduation rates of NCAA Division I student-athletes who entered college in the 2008-2009 academic year, based on a six-year cohort prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education. The Graduation Success Rate overall for Division I college athletes has climbed to 86 percent – two points over last year and the highest rate ever.
