Erik Weiler joined the Valpo Athletics team in October 2016, when he arrived on campus following an 11-year stay at Loyola (Chicago), where he was the Ramblers’ assistant director of athletics for facilities as well as the director of Gentile Arena.

During his time at Valpo, Weiler initially served as associate director of athletics for facilities before being promoted to associate director of athletics for internal operations in November 2018 and promoted again to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations in Spring 2020. In his current role, Weiler oversees event management, the ticket office and sports medicine in addition to facilities.

Weiler is responsible for the management and scheduling of the Valpo Athletics facilities. This includes working with Facilities Management on the cleaning, upkeep and maintenance of the Athletics-Recreation Center, Brown Field and all other Athletics facilities on campus. He is also responsible for setting up and preparing the Athletics facilities for competitions and practices and provides oversight and planning for all athletic facility improvement projects. Weiler also serves as the sport administrator for the baseball, women’s golf and men’s golf programs.

Weiler served as Valpo’s COVID-19 working group chair, playing a key role in developing a detailed plan for holding athletic activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has held the position of tournament director for Missouri Valley Conference championship events and serves as a member of the University Campus Planning Committee, MVC Sports Management Committee and University Strategic Planning Committee. Weiler co-chaired the committee that revised the One Valpo Promise, which was established to promote social equality and communicate the department’s stance against social injustice.

At Loyola, Weiler was responsible for managing the scheduling and maintenance of Gentile Arena, the former Alumni Gym and Hoyne Athletic Field, as well as supervising Loyola’s game management staff. He assisted in planning and overseeing the complete renovation of Gentile Arena and the addition of the Norville Center for Intercollegiate Athletics.

A former college baseball pitcher at Saint Xavier University in Chicago from 1999-2003, Weiler currently resides in Chesterton with his wife Erica and two daughters, Evelyn and Emelia.
