Kim Smith is in her seventh year on the Valparaiso University staff in 2018-2019. Smith currently serves as the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator directly supervising seven sports, compliance operations and student-athlete academic services.

In her role, Smith works directly with the NCAA and Missouri Valley Conference on eligibility, NCAA reporting, financial aid and rules education. Additionally, Smith supervises baseball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s track and field, women’s bowling and serves as a secondary administrator for women’s basketball. Smith serves on the University’s Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics, and was a member of the senior staff that made the University’s transition from the Horizon League to the Missouri Valley Conference in 2017.

Smith has been a member of various conference level committees in her short time as the SWA and currently serves on the MVC Legislative Committee and the MVC Sport Management Committee.

A 2001 graduate of Valparaiso University with a degree in Sports Management, Smith returned to her alma mater in 2012 after spending three years as the Assistant Director of Compliance at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Prior to ODU, Smith was the Assistant to the Director of Compliance at the University of Evansville, after completing two years as the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swim Coach at UE. Smith earned her Master’s Degree from University of Evansville in public service administration in 2007.
