Valpo Defeats Duquesne; Falls to Holy Cross and Indiana

Bradenton, Fla. - Valpo has compiled a 1-2 record on its Florida Spring Trip thus far. On Sunday, Todd Evans pitched 5 1/3 innings and earned the win as the Crusaders defeated Duquesne 7-5. Adam Paetznick pitched the final inning to record the save. The offense was ignited by Caleb Kimmel and Brandon Sadler, both of whom delivered RBI doubles.

On Monday, the Crusaders' comeback attempt fell short in the late innings as Valpo lost to Holy Cross 5-3. Eddie Hannan belted a solo homer and Jeff Mandsager hit an RBI single for the Crusaders.

In its first game of the season, Indiana defeated Valpo 12-2. Mandsager had two hits and one RBI. Marc Boggio (0-1) allowed one run on four hits, while striking out three and walking three in 4.0 innings.

The Crusaders, who do not play on Tuesday, oppose St. Bonaventure on Wednesday.
