Monday, July 28, 2008

Valparaiso University head coach Tracy Woodson announced that Eric Osborn has joined the Crusader baseball staff as an assistant coach.

Osborn was an assistant at Indiana Tech for the 2008 season, where he handled infield duties as well as base running and bunting for the Warriors.  He also was the team’s first base coach and aided in recruiting as well as served as the program’s camp coordinator.

Osborn spent the fall of 2007 as an undergraduate assistant at Purdue University, his alma mater, assisting with day-to-day operations of the baseball program.  With the Boilermakers, he worked with the infielders, base runners, and hitters.

A four-year starter at second base for Purdue during his playing days, Osborn was twice named an Academic All Big-Ten selection.

“We’re excited to have someone that is ready to come in here and help us take our program to where we want it to be,” said Woodson.  “He is excited about joining our staff and we think he is ready for the challenge.”

Osborn graduated from Purdue in 2007 with a degree in management.
