Valpo will look to even the series with the RailCats after falling 2-1 last year.

For the second consecutive season the Valparaiso Crusaders will face off in an exhibition game against the Gary SouthShore RailCats with proceeds benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana.  This year’s game will be played Tuesday, May 12 at 6 p.m. at U. S. Steel Yard.

Tickets to the game are on sale now at a $5 general admission price by calling the RailCats Box Office at 219.882.2255 or visiting www.railcatsbaseball.com.  Tickets can also be purchased by contacting Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana at 219.882.1060.  Luxury suites, party decks and other group packages will also be sold for the game, but can only be purchased by calling the RailCats directly.  Proceeds from each ticket sold will be donated back to Boys & Girls Clubs.

This will mark the fourth game this season the Crusaders will have played at U. S. Steel Yard.  Valpo fell 11-2 against Indiana back on April 13 and 8-1 against Notre Dame on April 28.  The Brown and Gold will meet Northwestern on Tuesday, May 4 at 7 p.m.  In addition, the 2010 Horizon League Baseball Championship will be held at U. S. Steel Yard May 26-30.

The RailCats and Crusaders first played in 2009 during the spring season, raising $2,724 for the Boys & Girls Clubs.  The ‘Cats won that game 2-1 on a walk-off single from Isaac Omura, snapping a ninth inning tie.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana serve over 10,000 youth and have six Clubs in Lake County: Gary, East Chicago, Hammond, Merrillville, Lake Station and Cedar Lake.  The Clubs provide youth with programs and services that promote and enhance the positive development of boys and girls, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances.
