Valparaiso University baseball program has posted a combined grade point average of 3.09 for the 2011 fall semester head coach Tracy Woodson has announced.

“This is one aspect of the college baseball experience that we have worked hard to emphasize to our players here at

Valpo,” Woodson commented based upon the team’s success.  “There is an expectation level that our players must meet in order to play for the team.  It is not easy, and I give my guys a lot of credit for having the discipline and work ethic in order to accomplish this. It is our job to prepare them for life after graduation. I am certainly proud of their achievement.”

Twenty of the 33 team members achieved a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall of 2011.

The Crusader baseball team will open the 2012 season on Feb. 17 at Murray State to begin a three-game series with the Thoroughbreds.  First pitch of the season opener is set for 1 p.m. in Murray, Ky.
