Valpo's Starck Named First Team All-Mid-Con

Valparaiso University pitcher Tom Starck was named First Team All-Mid-Continent Conference for the second straight season. The Mid-Con Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2003, Starck currently leads the conference with 100 strikeouts.

A senior lefthander, Starck also ranks 2nd in the Mid-Con in opposing batting average (.217) and 6th in earned run average (3.48). The native of Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph's compiled a 5-8 overall mark in 2004, pitching 85 1/3 innings, the 4th-most in the Mid-Con. Starck ended his collegiate career ranking 4th on Valpo's all-time strikeouts list with 222. Earlier this season, he fanned a career-high 13 batters against Lewis.
