Steady rain in Northwest Indiana has postponed Friday’s scheduled Horizon League series opener between Valparaiso The two schools will now open the three-game weekend series on Saturday with the regularly scheduled doubleheader at Emory G. Bauer Field beginning at noon. Friday’s game is slated to be made up Sunday morning at 9 a.m. and UIC.
This is the second time this season rain has affected a Valpo-UIC game. On April 25 in Chicago, game one of the doubleheader was delayed three times due to rain, and game two was eventually cancelled.
Valparaiso (27-21, 12-10 Horizon) is currently in fourth place in the Horizon League standings, just one-half game behind Wright State for third place. UIC (25-21, 16-6) has already clinched the regular season title.
