The Horizon League has named Karch Kowalczyk (Peru, Ill./La Salle-Peru HS) Pitcher of the Week for April 15th-21st.

The Crusaders' closer has yet to allow a run in 13 innings and owns a 0.62 WHIP. Opponents are batting just .136 off the righty.

This past week Kowalczyk worked 3 1/3 innings, surrendered two hits, walked none and fanned four.

He earned his fourth save of the year Sunday, throwing a scoreless 9th inning in Valpo's 8-6 win over #9 Arizona State.

It marked Valpo's second straight season with a victory over a top-10 team. Last February, the Brown and Gold upset eventual College World Series participant #4 Arkansas 10-9 in Fayetteville.

Valparaiso (15-23, 4-8 Horizon) will play host to Chicago State on Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Emory G. Bauer Field.

On Wednesday, the Crusaders are scheduled to travel to Muncie to face the Ball State Cardinals at 2:00 pm CT.
