Valparaiso was represented by all three Pioneer Football League Players of the Week following the victory over Davidson when the league announced the honors on Sunday afternoon.  Ross Wiemer (Burlington, Wis./Burlington H.S.) took home Offensive honors while Anthony Curry (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville H.S.) earned the Defensive award.  David Hamaker (Plano, Texas/West H.S.) was the PFL Special Teams Player of the Week.

Wiemer carried 22 times for a career-high 170 yards and three touchdowns against the Wildcats.  His first score came on an eight-yard run to cut the Crusader deficit within 21-13.  Wiemer’s second touchdown was a 49-yard run to cap a 99-yard drive to give Valpo its first lead of the day as the Crusaders rallied from an 18-point deficit.  His final score on the next drive came from 13 yards out.

Curry had two key interceptions to help the Crusaders to victory.  His first came in the end zone before halftime and the second came in overtime at the five-yard line to secure the victory.  He now has four picks on the season.  Curry also had six tackles, including one for loss, and a quarterback hurry.

Hamaker scored 11 points in the victory over Davidson.  He was a perfect 3-of-3 on field goal attempts after entering the contest having made just one in his career.  His first field goal came from 32 yards out to put Valpo on the board and his second was a 40-yarder just before halftime.  His final field goal was a career-long 43-yard boot.

Valpo (2-3, 1-1 PFL) will host Butler on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Brown Field in the Battle for the Hoosier Helmet.
