Valparaiso senior punter Greg Wood (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) was named the Pioneer Football League co-Special Teams Player of the Week on Sunday after his brilliant punting performance on Saturday afternoon against Davidson.

Wood averaged a PFL single-game best 48.9 yards per punt on his eight kicks Saturday afternoon.  All eight of his efforts pinned Davidson inside its own 25-yard line, including five punts which forced the Wildcats to start from inside the 20.  Four of the senior’s eight punts traveled at least 50 yards, including back-to-back punts of 64 and 63 yards which pinned Davidson deep in the fourth quarter of a tie game.

Wood leads the PFL on the season, averaging 41.1 yards per punt.  The senior, who received his second weekly award from the PFL office, has tallied 13 punts of at least 50 yards among his 64 punts and has placed 25 of his punts inside the 20-yard line on the season.
