Guilford Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
Junior John Guilford earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors Thursday.

Valparaiso football's John Guilford (Spencer, Ohio/Black River) was named a First Team CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District 5 honoree today. By rule, Guilford is now eligible for Academic All-America recognition.

Through nine games, Guilford has racked up 61 tackles and paces the Crusaders in tackles for a loss (8.5) as well as quarterback hits (3). The junior has also recorded two sacks and forced a fumble. His 61 tackles is just one shy of the Pioneer Football League lead for defensive ends/linemen.

In the classroom, Guilford carries a 3.31 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major. He has been named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll twice.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-America, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.30, and be either a starter or key reserve. District 5 consists of schools in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.
