Jason Miran completed his fifth season as Valpo's offensive coordinator in 2018. He is also responsible for coaching the team’s wide receivers.

Miran has helped oversee a significant uptick for a Valpo program that went from winning three total games in four years prior to this staff's arrival to enjoying its first winning season since 2003 in 2017.

Valpo scored 330 points and racked up 4,398 yards in 2017, both second most in program history. The offensive success continued in 2018, when the team scored 290 points, tied for the fifth most in program history. This marked the first time Valpo scored 290 points or more in consecutive seasons since 1950 and 1951.

Two of the top wide receivers in Valpo history have played during Miran’s tenure. In his first year on staff in 2014, Miran instructed Tanner Kuramata, who finished with 2,315 career receiving yards (fifth in program history). The one year under Miran was the best of Kuramata’s prosperous career, as he had the fifth-most receptions in a single season (67) in program history. Griffin Norberg (2015-2018) played under Miran’s tutelage for his entire collegiate career. Norberg played fullback as a freshman before evolving into one of the PFL’s elite wide receivers during his time under Miran. Norberg finished his career with 1,725 receiving yards, seventh in program history. He also hauled in nine touchdown receptions in 2018, tied for the fifth most all-time and the most since 2003.

During the 2017 season, Miran served as the offensive coordinator for one of the greatest offensive showings in the history of Valpo football. The team boasted a 63-32 win over Morehead State, marking the program’s highest scoring output since 1996. It was the first time a Valpo team had ever scored over 60 points against a PFL opponent and was the fifth-highest single-game scoring output in program history. Valpo racked up 597 yards of offense, just 16 yards shy of the school record, which was set against Alma in 1985.

Miran also serves as the team liaison with Valpo’s sports information department and ticket office.

The Pottstown, Pa. native came to Valpo after spending four seasons as wide receivers coach at Lehigh. Miran oversaw one of the best receiving corps in Lehigh school history in 2011. The unit ranked third in the FCS in total offense and fifth in passing offense. Under Miran's tutelage, former NFL wide receiver Ryan Spadola flourished to finish his Lehigh career second in receptions and receiving yards.

Miran played collegiately at Penn, where he started at fullback his senior season. He earned his degree in communications from there in 2009. Miran also spent a season at Franklin and Marshall as the tight ends and assistant offensive line coach.
