2018: Earned a spot on the all-league second team for the third straight season… Appeared in all 11 games as a wide receiver and return specialist… Had 15 catches for 216 yards, an average of 14.4 yards per catch and 19.6 receiving yards per game… Had one touchdown grab and his season-long reception went for 42 yards… Had 39 kickoff returns for 954 yards, an average of 24.5 yards per return… Had two kickoff returns for touchdowns including a long of 97… Had 10 punt returns for 41 yards, an average of 4.1 yards per return… Led the team with 1,211 all-purpose yards, an average of 110.1 all-purpose yards per game… Had the most kickoff return yards in the PFL and ranked third in kick return average… Ranked ninth in the PFL in all-purpose yards… His 954 kickoff return yards were the second-most in program history in a single season behind only John Popper’s 1,054 in 2007 and the seventh-most in the history of the PFL… Matched his own school record with two kickoff return touchdowns in a single season after he became the first player in program history with multiple kickoff return TDs in a single season in 2018… Enters his senior season with 102 career kickoff returns, one behind John Popper for the most by a Valpo player in a career since Valpo joined the PFL. In addition, that total ranks fourth in PFL history… Is the only player in the history of the Pioneer Football League to have multiple kickoff return touchdowns in a season in two different seasons during his career… Enters his senior year tied for second in PFL history with four career kickoff return touchdowns… Had seven games with 100 kickoff returns yards or more including five straight from Sept. 29 to Oct. 20… Helped Valpo beat Butler 35-17 on Oct. 13 with a career-long 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown… That return, which snapped a 14-14 tie to give Valpo the lead for good in the Hoosier Helmet rivalry game, helped Gessinger earn PFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors on Oct. 14… Had his second kickoff return touchdown of the season and the fourth of his career the very next week on Oct. 20 at Morehead State, this time a 93 yarder. In that game, he had a season-high 153 kickoff return yards… Had season highs in receptions (three) and receiving yards (46) on Oct. 27 vs. Drake… Member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll.

2017: Earned a spot on the all-league second-team for the second straight season… Led the team with 12 punt returns for a total of 102 yards (8.5 yards per return) and 32 kick returns for 669 yards (20.9 yards per return)… Also had eight catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns (13 receiving yards per game)… Had a career-high 49 receiving yards on Oct. 14 vs. Marist, one of two games this season in which he had two catches (Sept. 16 at Trinity International)… Accounted for the final touchdown of Valpo’s 44-10 win at Trinity International on Sept. 16, hauling in a 39-yard pass from Jimmy Seewald in the fourth quarter for his first career touchdown catch… Had his second career receiving TD in the Oct. 14 matchup with the Red Foxes, a 37 yarder from Seewald in the fourth quarter of a 49-15 victory… Surpassed 100 kick return yards in back-to-back games for the first time in his collegiate career on Oct. 7 at Campbell (113) and Oct. 14 vs. Marist (111)… Had a career-long 46-yard punt return on Sept. 16 at Trinity International… Had his longest kick return of the season (54) on Oct. 14 against Marist… Ranked eighth in the PFL in kick return average at 20.9.

2016: Thrived as a kick return specialist during his freshman season, playing in all 11 games... Ranked second in the PFL with 24.4 yards per kickoff return... Led the league in total return yards with 757.... Had two kickoff returns for touchdowns, while the rest of the leauge had one combined... One of three players in the FCS nation with two kickoff returns for scores... Became the first player in program history with two kickoff returns for touchndowns in a single-season... Had 100 or more kickoff return yards in three games, including a season-high 150 on four returns on Nov. 12 vs. Jacksonville... Had an 89-yard kickoff return for a TD on Oct. 1 at Morehead State and an 85-yard kickoff return for a TD on Nov. 12 vs. Jacksonville... Also had eight punt returns for 50 yards, made three receptions for 24 yards and notched four tackles... Member of PFL Academic Honor Roll.

Prep: A three-year letter winner for the Panthers ... named an All-Conference honoree as a senior ... an Indiana North All-Star ... served as team captain and won team MVP award his senior year ... also earned four letters in track and field ... holds school records for the 100m and 200m dashes ... three-time track team MVP ... finished fourth at states his senior year in the 200m dash.
