World-famous national anthem singer Jim Cornelison will be at the ARC this Friday night, singing The Star-Spangled Banner prior to the Crusaders' nationally-televised game against Detroit. The game will tip off at 8 p.m., with Cornelison singing the anthem at about 7:45.
Cornelison is best known for his role as the anthem singer for the Chicago Blackhawks, a gig he took over full-time in 2007 after serving as the part-time anthem singer since 1996. He gained recognition during the Blackhawks' pair of Stanley Cup championship runs in 2010 and 2013, during which time his anthems were often televised during the pre-game coverage and accompanied by the Blackhawks' fans cheering throughout the song, a Blackhawks tradition since the mid-1980's.
Cornelison also has occasionally sung the national anthem at Soldier Field prior to Chicago Bears games, most notably on September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
