Wednesday, September 14, 2005
Valparaiso University today announced Jack Gabor has been named Director of Video Operations for the men's basketball team.

Gabor is one of the most successful high school coaches in Indiana history, compiling 334 wins in 23 seasons as a varsity head coach and winning eight Coach of the Year awards. He spent the past six seasons as the head coach at Griffith High School, winning conference championships in 2002 and 2003.

Gabor has also coached in several all-star games, including the 1999 Wendy's Classic, and even coached baseball for twelve years, winning 283 games. He is one of only two coaches in Indiana history to reach the Final Four in both basketball and baseball, guiding the 1984 Bishop Noll baseball team and then taking the Bishop Noll basketball team in 1988.

A Valparaiso resident, Gabor served as a graduate assistant at Indiana University during the 1978-79 season under Bobby Knight before moving into the high school ranks. Gabor earned his first head basketball job in 1982 at Bishop Noll in Hammond before taking over at Huntington North from 1991-1998. He spent the next season at Kankakee Valley High School, winning District 1 Coach of the Year honors, before moving to Griffith in the fall of 1999.
