Members of the Valparaiso men’s basketball team spent time with children from 5 to 7 years old last Friday afternoon at the YMCA, putting on a basketball clinic for the youths.
Michael Rogers, Cory Johnson, Hrvoje Vucic, Erik Buggs, and Nick Shelton, along with director of basketball operations Jake Diebler, ran the clinic, teaching the youngsters skills such as shooting, passing and defending. They also talked to the kids about how basketball is a team game and the importance of having fun while playing the game.
The Crusaders have been very active in the community while also preparing for the start of preseason practice. In addition to the clinic, the team has also helped out at Valparaiso’s Popcorn Festival, participated in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes and attended the Valparaiso International Center’s World Cultural Festival.
