Redshirt junior guard Brandon Wood (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo [Highland C.C./Southern Illinois]) continues to rake in honors for his 2010-2011 campaign, as he was named Wednesday to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 12 First Team.

Wood, who was also a First Team All-League and an All-Tournament Team honoree within the Horizon League, led the Crusaders in scoring this year at 17.0 ppg, a mark which ranks third in the league.  He has scored 545 points on the season, giving him 1,110 career points through his first two years, a Valpo program record through two seasons.  This season, he scored 20 or more points on 12 occasions, including six of Valpo’s final eight games, and hit 30+ points three times.

But the junior has done more than just score for the Crusaders this season.  Wood averages 4.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game as well, leading Valpo in the latter two categories.  The junior ranks second in the league in thefts and eighth in assists, and is one of just two players in the Horizon League to sit among the top-eight in scoring, assists and steals.  In addition, Wood’s 54 steals this year already has him in sixth place on the Crusader single-season charts.
