Peters Earns USBWA All-District Honor

Valparaiso University junior forward Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington) was named Tuesday as one of ten All-District V honorees by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), one of just 91 All-District honorees nationwide.

The USBWA District V covers all Division I teams in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The ten-player All-District squad consisted by six Big Ten players, two Big East players and a pair of Horizon League players.

Peters earns the All-District honor for his tremendous junior campaign. With his efforts this season, Peters is the only player all-time at Valpo to rank among the top-10 in program history in both scoring and rebounding in a single season, as he currently ranks seventh in scoring (575 points) and ninth in rebounding (270 rebounds).  He has scored in double figures in 30 out of Valpo’s 32 games, including 30+ on three occasions, and has posted 13 double-doubles – five of which have come in the Crusaders’ last six games.

A First Team All-Horizon League selection for a second straight season, Peters ranks among the top-100 nationally in both scoring and rebounding and is 13th in the nation in 3-point percentage (44.9%). He currently ranks fourth in the nation (>20% possessions) in Ken Pomeroy’s Offensive Rating metric as well.
