Peters Repeats as Horizon League Player of the Week

For a second straight week, Valparaiso University senior Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington) has earned weekly honors from the Horizon League office, as he was named the league’s co-Player of the Week following his performance in the Crusaders’ win last week over #21/25 Rhode Island.

Peters led all players in the win over the Rams with 27 points and nine rebounds, continuing his stellar showing this year at the foul line with a perfect 10-for-10 effort. The senior stepped up big down the stretch, scoring on three consecutive possessions out of the final media timeout to help the Crusaders hold off Rhode Island and then blocking the Rams’ potential game-tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Peters has now earned a pair of Player of the Week honors this year from the Horizon League, giving him seven total awards for his career – tied for seventh-most in league history.
