Peters Claims League Player of the Week Honor

Two program career records, a new career high and two fantastic performances in a pair of big Crusader victories all add up to the fourth Horizon League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor this season for Valparaiso University senior Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington).

Peters opened the week with 20 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the Crusaders’ 24-point win over then-unbeaten Green Bay on Monday evening. With his final rebound of the game, Peters surpassed Chris Ensminger on Valpo’s career rebounding chart.

Peters followed on Sunday by breaking Bryce Drew’s career scoring record at Valpo, as the senior’s seventh point of the game and 2,143rd of his career came 4:31 into the win over UIC. Peters finished the rout over the Flames with 30 points and 10 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action, hitting the 30-point mark for the 10th time in his career and recording his 13th double-double of the season.

Peters now owns nine career weekly awards from the Horizon League office, tying him with Kay Felder for third-most in league history.
