Tevonn Walker Signs Professional Contract With Hamburg Towers

The Valparaiso University men’s basketball program continues to produce professional basketball players and another Crusader alum has joined the professional ranks, as graduated senior Tevonn Walker (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier College) signed today with Hamburg Towers of the ProA in Germany – the nation’s second-tier league.

Walker led the Crusaders in their first season of Missouri Valley Conference play, averaging 14.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while also tying for team-high honors with 48 steals. He ranked eighth in the conference in scoring, second in steals, and seventh in free throw percentage (.779). Walker, an MVC All-Defensive Team selection, closed out his Valpo career 14th in program history with 1,405 career points, as well as eighth all-time at Valpo in both steals (150) and free throws made (342).

A member of three Horizon League regular season title squads, Walker helped lead Valpo to 97 victories in his four seasons. The Crusaders made three postseason trips in his four years at Valpo, including an NCAA Tournament berth in 2015 and a spot in the NIT title game in 2016.

With Walker’s signing, Valpo has now produced 50 professional basketball players over the last 25 years. Walker is the second former Crusader to ink his initial professional deal this offseason, joining fellow Canadian Max Joseph, who inked a professional contract with Nässjö Basket in Sweden.
