Valpo Men Fifth at Evansville Invitational

Valparaiso University finished in fifth place in the eight-team field at the Evansville Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Evansville, Ind.

The Crusaders posted a total of 135 points on the afternoon, four ahead of sixth place Lipscomb. Belmont won the race with just 27 points.

Adam Piaskowy (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee H.S.) led the way for the Brown and Gold with an eighth place finish overall. The senior crossed the finish line in a time of 26:23.59. Dennis Kabara (Chuka, Kenya/Meru H.S.) finished second for the Brown and Gold and 33rd overall with a time of 27:28.46.

David Iott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) was the third Crusader to finish the eight-kilometer course, placing 48th overall with a time of 27:59.05. Richie White (Munster, Ind./Munster H.S.) was 60th with a time of 28:33.39, while Ben Radke (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge H.S.) rounded out the scorers finishing 67th overall with a time of 28:42.14.

Valpo will take a week off before heading to the Mid-Continent Conference Championships on October 30 in Rochester, Mich. The men's race begins at 10 a.m. CDT.
