Valpo Seventh at Indiana Intercollegiates

Valparaiso University's men's cross country team finished in seventh place in Division I at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships held on Friday in West Lafayette, Ind.

Indiana was the team champion with 20 points, followed by Indiana State with 49 and IUPUI with 84. The Crusaders tallied 182 points on the afternoon.

Adam Piaskowy (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee H.S.) led the way for the Brown and Gold with a 21st place finish in a time of 27:22 over the eight-kilometer course. David Iott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger H.S.) was the next Crusader across the finish line, placing 41st overall with a time of 29:11. He led a trio of runners with Ben Radke (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge H.S.) finishing one second behind and Michael Brouch (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) three seconds back. Richie White (Munster, Ind./Munster H.S.) rounded out the scoring for Valpo with his 48th place finish with a time of 30:15.

Valparaiso will now take a week off before heading to the Notre Dame Invitational, to be held in Notre Dame, Ind. on October 1. The men's race begins at 5 p.m.
