Valpo Men Finish 12th at Indiana Intercollegiates

Led by senior Wally Bradford (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago), the Valparaiso men's cross country team ran to a 12th-place showing Friday afternoon at the Indiana Intercollegiates in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Crusaders tallied 374 points to finish in 12th place out of 27 teams. Indiana won the team title with 49 points, while Indiana State's John Mascari ran to the individual title with a time of 24:42.4.

Bradford paced the Crusader contingent for the second time in as many races in 2012, covering the 8K course in 26:18.8, good for a 51st-place finish. Junior Matthew Przybyla (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Pinckney) was the second Valpo runner to cross the line, finishing in 67th place with a time of 26:51.5.

Sophomore Eric Hickok (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) ran to a 83rd-place finish, completing the eight kilometers in 27:22.6, while sophomore David Rutkowski (Cedarburg, Wis./Living Word Lutheran) was the fourth-fastest Crusader with a time of 27:41.6, finishing in 100th place. Sophomore Trace Ostergren (LaPorte, Ind./Culver Academy) rounded out Valpo's scoring runners, finishing in 115th place with a time of 27:55.9.

Valparaiso returns to action in two weeks, traveling east to take part in the Notre Dame Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind. on Friday, September 28.
