Crusader Men Continue Season at Notre Dame

The Valparaiso men's cross country team continued its 2012 slate on Friday afternoon, finishing in 14th place in the Gold Race of the Notre Dame Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind.

Valpo totaled 372 points on Friday to place 14th out of 18 competing squads, defeating both fellow Horizon League programs in the race. North Central took the team title with 54 points, while Windsor's Matt Walters took top individual honors.

Senior Wally Bradford (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) paced the Crusaders for the third time in as many races this season, covering the 8K course in a career-best time of 25:52 to finish in 47th place. Sophomore Eric Hickok (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) and junior Matthew Przybyla (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Pinckney) crossed the line back-to-back in 70th and 71st place, both posting times of 26:26.

Sophomore David Rutkowski (Cedarburg, Wis./Living Word Lutheran) was the next Valpo runner across the line, finishing in 96th position with a time of 26:56. Freshman Michael Salguero (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) rounded out the Crusaders' top-five runners, covering the course in 27:02, good for 98th place.

Valparaiso returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Evansville Invitational in Evansville, Ind. The meet is slated for an 11 a.m. CDT start.
