Valpo Season Ends at NCAA Regionals

Valparaiso University saw its 2004 cross country season come to a close at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships held on Saturday morning in Ypsilanti, Mich.

The Crusaders finished in 29th place totaling 885 points. Wisconsin was the regional champion with 47 points, followed by Notre Dame with 82 and Butler with 102.

Adam Piaskowy (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee H.S.) led the way for the Crusaders with a 118th place finish overall with a time of 33:15.1 over the ten-kilometer course. The senior's time was the third fastest 10K time in school history in his final race wearing the Brown and Gold.

David Iott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger H.S.), also running in his final meet, was second across the finish line for the Brown and Gold, placing 189th overall with a time of 36:16.8. Michael Brouch (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) was 191st overall with a time of 36:53.2.

Richie White (Munster, Ind./Munster H.S.) finished 193rd overall with a time of 37:37.9, while Michael Landmeier (Saint Charles, Ill./Saint Charles East H.S.) rounded out the line-up in 194th place with a time of 39:13.7.
