Valpo Men 12th Through 36 Holes in Indianapolis

Valparaiso turned in consistent rounds of 305 and 306 for a day one total of 611 on day one of the Butler Fall Invitational held Monday at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Crusaders enter the final round of the 54-hole event three shots in front of IUPUI and 11 behind Bradley.  Green Bay leads the tournament at eight-under par 560.

Michael Hesselman (Janesville, Wis./Edgerton H.S.) led the Crusaders on the opening day with rounds of 71 and 75 to tie for 24th overall at 146.  His even par round of 71 in the morning matched his low round of the season.

Josh Kalita (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) tallied 76-77 for a total of 153 to rank second among all Valpo golfers while Austin Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger H.S.) shot a pair of 78s for 156.

Adam Gray (Portland, Ind./Jay County H.S.) knocked five shots off his first round score to fire a 76 in the second round, a season low for the freshman.

Valparaiso will return to the course on Tuesday morning for the final round of action with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CDT.
