The Valparaiso University men’s golf program has been named an All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America for the second straight year, the GCAA announced Wednesday.  In addition, the Crusaders were honored with President’s Special Recognition status, as they were one of just 11 Division I programs to post a cumulative team GPA of 3.5 or higher.

“I'm very proud of our team and the strong commitment that our players have to our golf program and their studies,” said head coach David Gring.  “This is a balanced team effort, with all nine players combining for a 3.61 GPA last school year.  You will find the guys studying as we travel to tournaments and after competitive rounds.  To be one of eleven national golf programs that had a team GPA over 3.5 demonstrates hard work, focus, and determination.”

The GCAA requires programs to have a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher to be honored as an All-Academic Team.  Valpo was one of 68 programs to be named an All-Academic Team and one of two from the Horizon League.
