The Valparaiso men’s golf team opened the spring season with a sixth-place finish at the Beu Mussatto Invitational at Henry Mussatto GC in Macomb, Ill. on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Kyle Henning (Brookfield, Wis./East) finished third individually with a three-round total of 219. Henning posted a three-over round of 75 in Saturday’s final round. IUPUI’s Santiago Ruiz won medalist honors with a score of 217.

Valparaiso finished with a team total of 901. South Dakota State won took team honors with a total of 889.

Junior Thomas Wettstein (Neenah, Wis./Xavier) carded a final round 75 to finish with a total of 226.

Senior Austin Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) finished tied for 20^th with a total of 227, while fifth-year senior Brad Winters (Elgin, Ill./Saint Edward [Dayton]) tied for 29^th with score of 230.

Sophomore Joe Harris (Washington, Iowa/Washington) finished with a three-round total of 234.

The Crusaders return to the links on Saturday, April 6 for day one of the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational in Peoria, Ill.
