Michael Holevas Inks Golf NLI
Coach Gring has announced an addition to next year's men's golf roster.

Valparaiso University head coach Dave Gring has announced that Michael Holevas has signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf for the Crusaders beginning in the fall of 2012.

Holevas, a native of Elgin, Ill., he finished eighth at the Illinois State Championships playing for Saint Edward Catholic Central High School.  A four-time First Team All-Suburban Christian Conference selection, Holevas was the team captain this past fall.  He was named Student-Athlete of the Year in 2009-2010 and has been named to the SCC Academic All-Conference Team as well.

“We are very excited to have Michael commit to Valparaiso University and join the men’s golf team,” Gring said.  “Michael is a quality young man who demonstrates tremendous balance between his academic, athletic, and community activities.  He shows exceptional consistency in his scoring and has great experience playing in a full slate of tournaments throughout the year.”

Playing on the Mid-American Junior Golf Tour, Holevas was named to the All-Midwest Team in 2010.  He also was named Third Team All-American by the Future Collegians World Tour Junior Golf Tour.

“Michael will be an impact player for us from the start,” Gring added.  “He will bring strong leadership to our team, beginning as a freshman.”
