Wittmann Signs NLI with Men’s Golf

Valparaiso men’s golf coach Dave Gring announced today that Mitchell Wittmann has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Crusader golf program as a freshman in the fall of 2015.  Wittmann is ranked first in the WPGA Class of 2015.

“Mitchell has a great golf pedigree, coming to our program from a wonderful family that all enjoy golf,” Gring said. “He has tremendous support and teaching from his swing and high school golf coaches.  His experience is enormous, playing at a high level in both his high school and summer tournament schedules.”

Wittmann, a native of Kaukauna, Wis., is a three-time First-Team All-Area and First-Team All-Conference honoree. A two-time team captain and MVP, he finished tied for fourth at the Wisconsin State Golf Association (WSGA) State Junior Championship this past summer and was the top junior finisher (15th) in the WSGA State Amateur Championship as well. He was a member of a state qualifying team and has recorded two-hole-in ones, and was a three-year member of the volleyball team as well.

"Mitchell brings great athleticism to our team, playing two sports while in high school,” Gring said. “His short game is exceptional, along with his course management, and this is evident in the tournament results he has achieved.”

Off the course, Wittmann is currently ranked first in the class of 2015 at Kaukauna High School. He is the president of Kaukauna DECA Chapter and mentors junior golfers for the Bobbie Barnett Memorial Foundation during his summers.

“I look at Mitchell as the quintessential student-athlete,” Gring said. “Not only has he achieved great success on the golf course, but his work ethic and determination is evident in his studies and performance in school. He is a well-balanced and gifted individual, and a lot of fun to be around. We are looking forward to him joining the Valpo Men's Golf family!”
