13 Crusaders Earn Spring Academic All-League Honors
13 Valparaiso University student-athletes earned spots on the Horizon League Spring Academic All-League teams, as announced by the league office today. The men’s track and field team had four honorees from the outdoor season, while the women’s squad had three honorees. Three baseball players earned Academic All-League accolades, while softball, men’s golf and men’s tennis each had one recipient apiece.

Valpo Men Close Out HL Championship in Sixth Place
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team finished up the 2016 Horizon League Championship at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on Sunday, closing out the three-day league tournament in sixth position. Sunday also marked the final round of the Crusaders’ 2015-16 season.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team improved by five shots over its first-round performance in Saturday’s second round at the 2016 Horizon League Championship from Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., finishing the day in fifth place in the standings with one round to play.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team placed a pair of golfers on the All-Horizon League teams as the league announced its postseason awards Thursday evening, prior to the start of the Horizon League Championship on Friday. Junior Peter Webb (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) was named a First Team All-League honoree, while classmate Nick Seitz (Xenia, Ohio/Carroll) picked up Second Team All-League accolades.

Webb Earns League Golfer of the Week Honor

For Webb, it was his fourth career weekly honor from the league office.

Jeremy Wu (Medford, Ore./St. Mary’s School) and Matthew McCarthy (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) both signed National Letters of Intent and will be joining the program as freshmen in the fall of 2016.

Men’s Golf Earns Fifth Consecutive GCAA Academic Honor
The Valparaiso University men’s golf program has been named an All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America for the fifth straight year, the GCAA announced this week. In addition, the Crusaders were honored with President’s Special Recognition status for the fourth consecutive season, as they were one of just 10 Division I programs to post a cumulative team GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Trio of Crusaders Named All-America Scholars
Three Valparaiso men’s golfers were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars as the Golf Coaches Association of America announced this year's honorees this week. Graduated seniors Joe Harris (Washington, Iowa/Washington) and Eric Winters (Elgin, Ill./St. Edward) and senior-to-be Jared Magoline (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac [Marquette]) were the three Crusaders honored, matching the program’s highest number of honorees in a single season.
