Women's Tennis, Men's Golf Honored with Raise Your Sights Award


The Raise Your Sights award winners have been announced for the 2016-17 season. The honor is given annually to the best sport teams academically and is based on combined grade point average (GPA) from the current academic year. The award recognizes the top academic male and female team from each Horizon League institution.


Valparaiso University to Join Missouri Valley Conference


Valparaiso University president Mark A. Heckler, Ph.D., announced today that the University has accepted an invitation to join the Missouri Valley Conference on July 1, 2017. The Crusaders will begin competing for MVC championships in the 2017–2018 academic year.

Seniors Conclude Illustrious Crusader Careers


The Valparaiso University men’s golf team wrapped up its 2017 campaign on Tuesday at the Horizon League Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Crusaders finished fourth of eight teams with a team score of 908 after carding a 303 in Tuesday’s third round. Valpo was three strokes behind Wright State for third.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team currently stands in third place in the Horizon League Championships with 18 holes remaining. The Crusaders stroked a 308 in Round 2 and currently sit at 605 (+29) through 36 holes. Valpo is seven strokes back of second-place Oakland and nine strokes behind first-place Cleveland State.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team got off to a strong start at the Horizon League Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on Sunday. The Crusaders posted a 297 in Round 1 and currently stand in second place in the eight-team event, only three strokes off the pace set by first-place Cleveland State.

Seitz, Wittmann Named to Horizon League All-Academic Team


The Valparaiso University men’s golf team continued to receive recognition for its academic and athletic success on Wednesday as the Crusaders placed two golfers on the five-member Horizon League all-academic team. Senior Nick Seitz and sophomore Mitchell Wittmann were honored as two of the five players on the all-academic team, which was voted on by the Horizon League Faculty Athletics Representatives from each of the league’s 10 institutions.

Webb Finishes Third in Muncie to Pace Crusaders


The Valparaiso University men’s golf team finished in a tie for sixth place with a three-round score of 1108 in a six-count-five format at Ball State’s Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational in Muncie on Saturday. Senior Peter Webb (Madison, Wis. / James Madison Memorial) had another strong performance, stroking a 69 on the final day of competition to finish with a three-round total of 209, placing third in an 85-player field.

Crusaders Close Wright State Invitational with Team’s Strongest Round of Event


The Valparaiso University men’s golf team posted a 363 on the final day of competition, tied for the second-best Round 3 score in the Wright State Invitational on Tuesday. The Crusaders finished fourth in the six-team event with a 54-hole score of 1,109. The Crusaders finished six strokes behind Northern Kentucky and seven strokes in back of the host Raiders. Valpo finished ahead of Green Bay and Loyola.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team continued a busy stretch of competition on Monday by beginning the Wright State Invitational. The Crusaders posted a 746 through two rounds and rank fourth in the six-team field.


Webb Takes Medalist Honors at Hoosier Invitational


Senior Peter Webb enjoyed the most memorable weekend of his collegiate career at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, becoming the first Crusader to win medalist honors since September 2014. Webb had a five-stroke lead entering Sunday’s final round, and posted a 73 in the final 18 holes to finish the event with a first-place 54-hole score of 206 (-7), three strokes ahead of Charlotte’s Matty Lamb, who finished second.


Webb Turns in Career Best, Leads Hoosier Invitational After Two Rounds


Senior Peter Webb compiled the best round of his collegiate career to begin the Hoosier Invitational hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington on Saturday. Webb stroked a 65 in the opening round, then followed with a 68 in Round 2. After one day of competition, his total score of 133 (-9) ranks first in the 78-player field.

Valparaiso University men’s golf team closed out the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo. on Tuesday. The Crusaders finished the event in ninth of 11 teams with a team score of 904. Valpo Men’s Golf Posts Top Team GPA in the Nation


The Valparaiso University men’s golf program has been honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as the Division I Academic National Champion, posting the top team GPA among all Division I programs. The 11-man Crusader roster combined for a team GPA of 3.755 over the 2015-16 academic year.


Trio of Crusaders Named All-America Scholars


Three Valparaiso men’s golfers were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars as the Golf Coaches Association of America announced this year's honorees this week. Graduated senior Jared Magoline and rising seniors Nick Seitz and Peter Webb were the three Crusaders honored, matching the program’s highest number of honorees in a single season.
