Valparaiso University freshman goalkeeper Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Defensive Player of the Week after posting a pair of shutouts over the weekend.

On Friday, the rookie made five saves in the Crusaders 2-0 road victory over Northwestern. He followed that performance up on Sunday by making six more stops in 90-degree heat, helping the Brown and Gold to a double-overtime scoreless draw over previously unbeaten and untied Evansville, which is ranked fourth in the Great Lakes Region.

In the process of registering his first two career shutouts, Oleck lowered his goals against average by 2.37 (from 4.50 to 2.13).
