Crusaders Earn Second Straight 0-0 Draw

For the first time in school history the Valparaiso University men's soccer team battled to their second straight 0-0 after a double-overtime effort on Sunday afternoon against Xavier (Ohio) at Eastgate Field.

The Crusaders, which drew with Ohio State by the identical score on Friday, outshot the Musketeers 18-15 for the match, with each side tallying four shots on net. Mickey Miller II (Tulsa, Okla./Bartlesville H.S.) led the Brown and Gold with four attempts, two on net.

Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) made three saves for the Crusaders for his sixth career shutout, moving him into third place on Valpo's career charts. Brian Schaeper made four stops for Xavier.

The Crusaders earned eight corner kick opportunities in the match, while the Musketeers earned six.

Valparaiso (0-4-2) will return to action on Friday afternoon when the Crusaders host Michigan State at Eastgate Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
