Drury Shuts Out Valpo 2-0 on Friday Night

A pair of second half goals lifted Drury to a 2-0 shutout victory over Valparaiso on Friday evening in Springfield, Mo.

After a scoreless opening half which saw Valpo outshoot Drury 4-3, the hosts struck first at 63:04. Chris Greatwich tallied his second goal of the season, unassisted on a free kick from 40 yards out. Austin Hill then added the insurance tally with 7:50 remaining, scoring from inside the box for his second marker of the year.

The Crusaders outshot the Panthers 9-8 for the match, but six of Drury's eight shots were on goal compared with just two for Valpo. Sean McGinnis (Barrington, Ill./Barrington H.S.), making his first collegiate start, made four saves in goal for the Brown and Gold, while Cesar Cereijo made two stops for Drury (3-2-1).

Drury earned three corner kicks in the match, compared with one for Valpo, and committed two more fouls than the Crusaders, 14-12.

Valparaiso (2-3-2) will look to return to the .500 mark on Sunday afternoon, as the Crusaders move across town to face Southwest Missouri State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
