Michigan State Tops Valpo 7-1

Michigan State scored four times in the match's first 30 minutes on its way to a 7-1 victory over Valparaiso on Friday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartans found the back of the net 1:32 into the contest on a Steve Doster goal and never looked back. Jordan Gruber scored twice for Michigan State in the victory.

Philip Dennis scored Valpo's lone tally with 1:25 remaining in the first half on a rebound of a J.J. Eschenburg shot.

Michigan State (9-6-1) outshot Valpo 20-10 and held an 11-5 advantage on net. Jeff Oleck made three first half saves for the Crusaders and Sean McGinnis played the second half.

Valpo (4-10-3) will close out the 2004 season on Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. match against Oakland at Eastgate Field on Senior Day.
