Valpo Falls 4-0 in Season Finale

Chris Edwards scored twice to help lead Oakland to a 4-0 victory over Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon at Eastgate Field in the Crusaders' season finale.

Edwards put Oakland in front with just 1:46 remaining in the first half, taking a Nick Nelson feed through the box for his 12th goal of the season.

The Golden Grizzlies held an 8-5 advantage in shots in the opening half.

Marcus Halland made it 2-0 Oakland after receiving a Danny Ng corner kick and firing it past Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) at 64:13.

Edwards added his second tally with 6:03 remaining scoring from eight yards out to the left of the goal. Brian Graham added his first goal of the season with just 16 seconds left to wrap-up the scoring.

Oakland (11-4-3, 4-1-1 Mid-Con) outshot Valpo 21-11 for the match and held an 11-4 advantage on goal. Oleck made seven saves for the Crusaders while Josh Slaughter made four stops in the shutout for the Golden Grizzlies.

Valparaiso's season comes to a close with a 4-11-3 record overall and 1-3-2 in the Mid-Continent Conference.
