Balfanz and Catrow Earn Second Team All Mid-Con Honors

Valparaiso University's Nate Balfanz (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.) and D.J. Catrow (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central H.S.) were named to the All Mid-Continent Conference Second Team on Thursday evening.

Balfanz was an instrumental part of the Crusaders defense this season. The junior helped anchor the Valpo backline which recorded a pair of shutouts on the season. He started all 17 matches this season. In addition, Balfanz drew an assist in Valpo's victory over Saint Joseph's (Ind.).

Catrow finished the season as the Crusaders' second-leading goal scorer. The sophomore finished the season with two goals and tied for a team-high with four assists earning a total of eight points on the year. He scored the match-winning goal against IUPUI.

Valparaiso finished the 2004 season with a 4-11-3 record overall and a 1-3-2 mark in Mid-Continent Conference action.
