D.J. Catrow Named Mid-Con Player of the Week
Tuesday, September 5, 2006
D.J. Catrow's (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) four-goal performance at the Copa de Causeway Tournament in California has netted the senior the Mid-Con's Offensive Player of the Week Award, the league announced today.

Catrow scored twice against UC-Davis in a 3-2 win Saturday night and added two more tallies Monday against Sacramento State. Catrow scored four of Valpo's five goals on the week on only five shots, and recorded only the second and third two-goal matches of his career.

The senior also moved up the Crusader all-time record books, moving to within three points and three goals of 10th on the all-time career lists. The Ohio State transfer has scored 12 times in his three year career and has also recorded 11 assists, good for 35 points. Catrow is also one of only five men in school history with at least 10 career goals and 10 career assists.

Last week, Paul Leitelt (Munster, Ind./Munster) earned Mid-Con Player of the Week and several national player of the week honors after a four-goal two assist weekend for the Crusaders. Catrow and Leitelt are now tied atop the Mid-Con with four goals each and sit first and second, respectively, in points.

This is the first Mid-Con weekly award for Catrow, who has been named to the All-Conference Second Team each of the past two seasons.

Catrow and the Crusaders (3-1), off to their best start since 1987, begin a stretch of four straight home matches Friday evening against Western Michigan at 4:30 p.m. That match, and Sunday's 1:00 p.m. match against Buffalo, will be carried live on 95.1 FM, WVUR, and online at www.valpo.edu/athletics.
