Mrak Released as Valpo's Men's Soccer Coach
Wednesday, November 29, 2006
Valparaiso University director of athletics Mark LaBarbera has announced that after a review of the men's soccer program, the decision has been made not to retain Mis' Mrak as the Crusaders' head coach.

?I am appreciative of the 16 years of service that Mis' has given to the program and wish him well," LaBarbera said. ?I feel that we have reached a point where it is in the best interest of the men's soccer program to move in a new direction."

Mrak led Valpo to 79 victories during his tenure with the Crusaders, including a pair of Mid-Continent Conference regular season titles in 1997 and 1998. His 1996 squad won Valpo's only Mid-Con Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Play-in match. During his stint with the Brown and Gold, 39 athletes earned All Mid-Con honors.

A national search to fill the head coaching vacancy will begin immediately.
