Valpo Honored by NSCAA for Men's and Women's Academic Award
Tuesday, December 4, 2007

Valparaiso University’s men’s and women’s soccer teams have both been named a recipient of the NCSAA/adidas Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The award, given annually to schools with a composite grade point average of 3.00 for the academic year, included both fall and spring semesters of a given year.  Thus the award this year is for the 2006-2007 academic year.

This marks the fifth straight year the Crusaders have earned the honor in both men’s and women’s soccer.

On the men’s side, the team posted a 3.04 team GPA, and joined Loyola and Milwaukee from the Horizon League in earning the honor.

The women’s team posted a 3.31 team GPA, and joined Butler, Cleveland State, Loyola, Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Wright State from the Horizon League in receiving the accolade.

Only 28 Division I schools had both their men’s and women’s programs earn the honor.
