Valparaiso goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck (Coralville, Iowa/Iowa City West) has been named the Horizon League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month for the month of October.

During the month of October, Zobeck led the Crusaders to a 4-1-3 overall record, including an unbeaten 2-0-2 mark in Horizon League play. He surrendered just six goals over the month's eight games, allowing one goal or fewer in all eight contests. He helped Valpo match its program record with a six-match unbeaten streak, and was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 22.

In the classroom, Zobeck maintains a 3.969 cumulative grade point average as a mechanical engineering major. One of 10 finalists nationwide for the Senior CLASS Award, Zobeck was a member of the NSCAA Scholar All-America Third Team last season and has twice been selected to the Academic All-Horizon League squad. He was also named a Tau Beta Pi Laureate last summer, the highest distinction for a senior engineering student in the United States.
