Second Half Outburst Lifts Evansville past Valpo

Evansville scored five times within a 25 minute span in the second half as the Purple Aces defeated Valparaiso 5-0 on Friday evening in Evansville, Ind.

The two schools played a fairly even first half with each team attempting five shots. The Crusaders put four on net against Evansville goalkeeper Troy Perkins, but he made the save each time.

Dan Bigham put the Purple Aces on the scoreboard from four yards out at the 57:16 mark. Ian McAuley added a tally nine minutes later from inside the box and Dan Broxup scored twice, once in the 72nd minute and again in the 79th minute. Adam Schultz capped off the scoring at the 81:58 mark from ten yards out.

Evansville (2-0-1) outshot Valpo 16-5 in the second half and Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) made six stops, four in the second half for the Brown and Gold.

Valparaiso (0-2) will return to action on Sunday afternoon when the Crusaders travel to Indianapolis for a 1 p.m. match at Butler.
