Brian Garcia scored twice within 25 seconds early in the first half helping to lead UMKC to a 3-1 victory over Valparaiso on Friday afternoon in Kansas City, Mo.

Garcia beat a defender in the box and scored to the far post at 13:15 of the first half to put the Kangaroos on the scoreboard. Joe Chirco drew the assist.

Garcia then added his sixth goal of the year just 25 seconds later scoring from 25 yards out after receiving the ball form Ryan Kaufman.

Mark Korba (Portage, Ind./Portage H.S.) cut the deficit in half early in the second half. D.J. Catrow (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central H.S.) took a shot that was saved by UMKC goalkeeper Todd Dohlman, but Korba put home the rebound at the 56:15 mark.

Chirco added an insurance goal that the 67:17 mark scoring from 15 yards out to put UMKC in front 3-1. Garcia added his fifth point of the night with the assist.

UMKC (3-10, 2-3 Mid-Con) outshot the Crusaders 16-11 for the match, but the Brown and Gold held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks won. Dohlman made six stops in the win for the hosts, while Valpo netminder Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) made four stops for the Crusaders.

Valpo (4-8-3, 1-2-2) will return home on Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. match against Ohio State at Eastgate Field.
