Friday, September 2, 2005
D.J. Catrow (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central H.S.) scored midway through the first half to give Valpo the lead, but host Buffalo scored three consecutive second-half goals and held on to defeat the Crusaders 3-2 Friday night as part of the Bulls Classic.

Catrow put the Brown and Gold on top in the 35th minute, finding the top left corner of the net off a feed from Paul Leitelt (Munster, Ind./Munster H.S.). The Crusaders maintained the 1-0 lead at the half.

Greg Galemore single-handedly gave the Bulls the lead in the early portions of the second half. Galemore took a feed from Lee Catchpole and drove it home in the 51st minute. Just 1:59 later, Galemore found the back of the net again, off a rebound of an Andrae Clarke shot, to give Buffalo a 2-1 lead. Lee Catchpole added a goal off a pass from Brian Knapp in the 76th minute to extend the lead to two.

Leitelt took advantage of a direct kick from the right side to put the ball past Bulls keeper Dan Bell in the 90th minute to cut the margin to 3-2, but time ran out on the Crusaders.

Buffalo (1-0) held a distinct edge in shots, 21-7, and garnered seven corner kicks versus four for the Crusaders. Valpo goalie Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) stopped six shots, while his counterpart made five saves.

Valparaiso (0-1) continues play in the Bulls Classic Sunday against Canisius. The match is slated to start at 10 a.m. CDT.
