Crusaders Fall at Michigan State on Wednesday

Valparaiso dropped a 2-0 decision to Michigan State on Wednesday evening in East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartans got on the scoreboard midway through the first half as Greg Janicki scored on a rebound at the 22:37 mark. The match remained 1-0 late when Matt Kreikemeier added an insurance goal at the 78:51 mark, his fourth of the season.

Valpo was limited to just seven shots in the match, including two on goal, but Jason Tillman turned aside both of them. Michigan State (8-5-2) managed 19 shots in the contest, including seven on frame. Ryan Schwarz (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic H.S.) made five saves for the Brown and Gold.

Valpo (7-7) will return to action on Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders head to Kansas City, Mo. for a key Mid-Continent Conference match with UMKC. Kickoff against the Kangaroos is set for 1 p.m.
